Norwich International Airport, UK
KLM UK Engineering who specialise in the maintenance, repair and
overhaul of aircraft, have their main base at Norwich International Airport.
Due to existing and new contracts KLM were in need of more space and
increased tail entry height.
They decided to refurbish an existing hangar which incorporated a 10 metre hangar extension supplied and erected by REIDsteel to accommodate a fabric megadoor with drop down posts which was supplied and installed by others.
The hangar can now house the new version of the Boeing 737.
Main Contractor for the project was May Gurney, and the hangar doors are of the fabric Megadoor type in 3 panels. The middle door section being 15m height and 10m width, and the panels either side reducing in height to 11.5m high but increasing in width to 17.5m to make a 45m overall door width.
