Aircraft Hangar Doors

We design and make all our own manual or electro-mechanical steel framed, single or double skin Insulated doors, with roller bearing, machined steel wheels running on ground rails. Our system allows any door to be operated without moving other doors, or they can all be opened together. The doors are of steel framed bolted construction and clad in materials similar to the wall cladding of the hangar, single skin or insulated.

	Door Types We can supply a number of different door types to suit your requirements. These include crossover doors, outrigger doors, vertical lift doors and folding shutter doors. Full details on door types and opening combinations.
click to enlarge	Individually Electrically Operated Doors Each door has its own motor, driving one of the sealed roller bearing, ground track wheels through a reduction gearbox/torque limiter/chain drive in each door leaf. This is controlled by a "dead rnan's" safety switch system, which will apply electro-mechanical brakes the moment the switch is released. There is an override system for manual operation in case of failure of electricity supply.
click to enlarge	Manually operated doors Manually operated doors can be pushed, or driven by a hand operated crank. The high quality roller bearing wheels allow even quite large doors to be operated manually.
click to enlarge	Roller Shutter doors We also make our own electrically driven, remote controlled galvanised Roller Shutter doors which are fitted in the hangar gable to allow entry of tail fins. We have devised a special gap crossing mechanism for the upper guides and electrical conductors. The photograph shows the drive mechanism. The cover panel has been removed to show the electric motor reduction gearbox and chain drive for the ground wheels.
click to enlarge	Big Hangar Doors Big Hangar Doors can sometimes weigh 10 tonnes each. The ground track, which resembles a small railway, is laser levelled before concreting.
